i’m asking you kindly…

I found this “type experiment” hidden in my folders somewhere, and I thought I would share it with you lot. It was in the phase of me experimenting Arabic words in highly geometric shapes.

The Freak

Najla is experimenting with hand-made type, creating two sets of Alphabets to deal with (Arabic & English). Each letter have their way of freaking you out. She’s still at phase 1, and would like to hear your feedback in order to move on to phase two and which one of the letters (freaks) is your favourite from both languages.

“The Freak;  under your bed and when the lights are turned off”

Karsh Akbar

Najla worked on a tiny animation for Ramadan – after fixes and blemishes, we ended up with this one. Najla’s yummy (unconsumed) gatayef and my editing (Omar)! YAY

It says:

رمضان ضمان لكرش اكبر

which means: Ramadan is a guarantee to have a bigger belly

Fedrarabik

I was experimenting with Fedra Arabic font by Peter Bil’ak and Tarek Atrissi. I thought it has an interesting shape to it. Just a random general political message, against a silhouette of mine.

old skool

I’m printing off random words, copying my deserted illustrations, scissors and glue. Then copy them again, and I get old-skool posters that are sort of hand-made. Well at least the layout and illustrations are…
